Bio

Currier was born in Morristown, TN, a small town north of Knoxville. Morristown has the distinction of being the home of Davy Crocket’s family in 1794. Davy was her hero as a child – his deep connection to nature, and his independence. Perhaps he planted a seed in her that grew into a reverence for the natural world – its intricate and ingenious designs inform her work. Currier’s awareness of its potential to reveal our truest selves has become an aesthetic cornerstone. The imagery she creates is a visual bridge to this desire for connection and balance.

The wood assemblages are an extension of her intent to create an object that is laden with a pre-linguitic essence. She believes wood is the perfect material to embrace and condense the ‘stream of time’, as it is heavy with its own history. By carving and building a universal form, Currier can tap into and channel the true silence that once existed.
